Mt Terry Public School P&C Association is looking to employ an efficient & enthusiastic Canteen Supervisor who will manage the daily activities of running the school canteen by providing fresh and healthy food to the school community of approximately 700 students and staff.

Our school canteen is a NSW Healthy Foods Canteen that operates 5 days per week with shifts between the hours of 7:30am to 2.30pm during school terms (40 weeks per year). This is a job share role, where we currently operate with two canteen supervisors. During school holidays our canteen does not operate.

The Canteen Supervisors are responsible for planning, organising, and monitoring all daily operations of the canteen, as well as working collaboratively with the P&C to continually review and create new menus and prices, as well as implement policies and procedures.

The daily activities include but are not limited to; over the counter service, receiving and receipting online orders, healthy food preparation, safe food storage, purchasing and maintaining stock levels, rostering, training, supervising, and assisting volunteers, record keeping, and money handling.

Other activities may include school functions as required and when feasible as mutually agreed upon by canteen Supervisors and Mt Terry Public School P&C.

Essential Criteria:

• Food Safety Supervisor Course Certification

• Ability to supervise and work alongside peers and volunteers

• Adept in working with and assisting children

• Proficient at preparing healthy food, preferably in a commercial environment

• Experience and/or qualifications in providing healthy food service, preferably to children

• Efficiency in dealing with suppliers, maintaining stock levels, keeping stock records and reconciling accounts.

• Ability to effectively lead a small team of volunteers and work cooperatively with a range of people

• A passion for creating, promoting, and delivering exciting and healthy food

• Dedication to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, food handling and cleanliness

• Excellent communication skills, especially with younger children

• Sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety compliances

• Experience delivering quality food in a high paced, large volume capacity

• Own transport and driving license

• Proficiency in the use of computer applications (Microsoft Excel and Word) to manage canteen operations and previous experience using online ordering systems, such as Quickcliq & Xero

Desirable Criteria:

• Experience in financial practices including costing menu items, ordering, invoicing, stock control, security of cash takings

• Barista training and/or experience

• Knowledge of the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy, both in practice and the administrative duties required to keep our healthy food accreditation status
